Yesterday marked the longest day of the year, the first official day of summer and Go Skateboarding Day worldwide. For several hundred skaters here in New York the day got started at the Lower East Side skatepark where Fiveboro, Kr3w and CCS held a joint event that brought together so many skaters it pretty much made the park unskatable. A brave few hit the picnic table set atop the park’s pyramid for a best-trick type contest where some solid skaters, including Birdhouse’s Clint Walker were mixing it up with some slightly less skilled skaters willing to fling their carcasses across the obstacle in all manner of attempts for a shot at glory, attention and maybe even some cash coming out of the pockets of Fiveboro’s own Steve Rodriguez.
